GENESIS
At the beginning of the eighties,
Dominique Kolow, employed within Renault Trucks Factory at Blainville sur
Orne (since 1969), organises, for the love of trucks, and by the means of
his presidency at the Ussy Festival committee, some cross-country truck
races. Admittedly, these are nothing like the trucks you can find on the
tarred circuits, where you see factory prepared (or not) racing trucks
like at Le mans. But by these racing events, he realises a part of his
dreams. Until the day when following a friendship with the drivers of
Crozier and Cuynet Teams. He sees a real opportunity.
This day, it is the May 1, 1995. Noël
Crozier, then driver with Total, tells to Dominique "the Renault is
ready.Vincent (his younger son) wishes to drive; take both of them and go
for it !"What luck! Lastly, he sees the possibility of creating his
own TEAM with its own driver... a dream come true.
From this proposal was born a great
story, the story of a racing team and friends. Story, which could have
stopped as quickly as it had started.
Indeed, after having known the
celebration, the joy, the hopes, the last race at Le mans in September
1995 caused all these beautiful projects, all these illusions to disappear.
Following a series of rolls, at the beginning of the final race, the
Renault finishes completely crushed.
Destroyed by the accident, but without
injury, the racing team thinks already of its dissolution.
However, when Dominique Kolow returns
to his office at Renault Trucks factory on Monday morning, he is supported
and encouraged by his truck dealers, his first sponsors, his friends who
during this season, were inspired by this passion. Then, they all say the
samething, "Rebuild a truck, we are ready to help you, go!
" go, go, ok but how? By asking
for the assistance of Renault Trucks, perhaps. Then, Dominique Kolow
writes to his director and proposes a project to him. The answer was as
follows "it’s a deal", but be careful to comply with certain
rules. The 1st being to have as the principal objective the promotion of
the automobile sport with industrial vehicles.
From this agreement was born an association, TEAM 14.
